The company Poltrona Frau, which is exactly 100 years old in 2012, is one of the world’s top sources for fine leather craftsmanship. Poltrona Frau is actually a furniture manufacturer. However, the leathers of the Poltrona Frau brand are not just limited to exclusive furniture items; they can also be found in automobiles, aeroplanes and yachts. As a tribute to the centennial of the Italian company, Volkswagen has upgraded its flagship with leather from the Poltrona Frau company. The name of the study: the Phaeton Exclusive Concept.
Multicolour leather upholstery and Alcantara rooflining
The full leather interior (‘Agata’ type) implemented in the Phaeton by Poltrona Frau is one of the most luxurious that has ever been fitted in an automobile. Designed in a leather named ‘Silkway Beige’ are the seats (front seats with electric 18-way adjustment), door inserts, package tray and centre armrest (front). Meanwhile, leather surfaces of the dashboard, centre console, upper door panels and frames, as well as the borders of the floor mats are all upholstered in the contrasting colour ‘Anthracite’. Coordinated with this is the Alcantara rooflining in ‘Alabaster White’ / ‘Silkway Beige’; even the bootspace is decorated in this colour and material combination. All relevant add-on parts are also painted in ‘Alabaster White’.
Volkswagen R GmbH exclusively applies piano paint (‘Black’) to the wood accents or the ‘extended wood pack’ offered in the interior. Piano paint is also used for the first time on the climate control panel in the rear.
Show car in ‘Luna Blue’ with 20-inch wheels
The Phaeton Exclusive Concept 3.0 V6 TDI being presented in Beijing is painted in the colour ‘Luna Blue Pearl Effect’. The LED rear lights are smoked. The show car sits on 20-inch alloy wheels.
