Wolfsburg, 18 May 2012 - The Volkswagen brand has been honored with a total of four of the most prestigious awards in the online industry for the 21st Century Beetle website, scooping up the prizes for the best automotive website, best navigation and structure, and best visual design and function. The Webby Award is the leading international award honoring excellence on the Internet in the categories of Websites, Interactive Advertising & Media, Online Film & Video, and Mobile & Apps. The awards will be presented in New York on May 21.
The International Academy of the Digital Arts and Sciences presents the Webby Awards, also known as the "Oscars of the Internet", every year. The Web community all over the world decides on the public favorites in each category, nominating the winners of the People's Voice Award. Here, too, www.beetle.com came out top in the Best Automotive Website 2012 category.
The Volkswagen Beetle official website is a multi-screen site programmed in HTML5: This scrolling site allows users to navigate vertically and horizontally through the content. The innovative navigation concept creates the impression that the user is driving in a Beetle. The website was designed and realized by the communications agency DDB Tribal, Berlin.
"A dynamic car needs a dynamic presentation", said Luca de Meo, Director of Marketing at the Volkswagen Group and the Volkswagen brand. "That is why the Volkswagen Beetle website is optimally tailored to the vehicle’s target group and we are delighted that our courage to embrace innovative communication on the Web has been rewarded with four Webby Awards."
