Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus are presenting all new truck concept next week on the 12th of September.
Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus (Trucks & Buses in English) has developed this new truck family from scratch with MAN in Germany. 200 engineers from Brazil based between Germany and Brazil have worked on Project Phevos since 2012.
This is the first project that the Resende based company has taken the lead on since MAN integration.
Planned production hubs are Brazil (under Volkswagen), Germany (under MAN brand) and China (under MAN joint venture Sinotruk).
From what I've gathered on the internet the new family of light truck will start from either 3.5t / 4t class and reach into the 9t / 11t class. Which is sitting between the Volkswagen Crafter / MAN TGE light commercials and sits under Volkswagen's Constellation and MAN's TGM series heavy truck families nicely.
Internally Project Phevos or VW 328 will be powered by a Cummins ISF 3.8 diesel engine with a ZF gearbox. The truck family has also been engineered to have an ARLA 32 tank integrated into the exhaust system for exhaust system treatment.
