Volkswagen Caminhões e Ônibus at Fenatran 2019

VW`s 11-ton e-Delivery is the featured electric vehicle on VW Caminhões e Ônibus` stand at Fenatran.
  • Tested and Approved: operations under real conditions have already proved the advantages.

Part of the first line of electric trucks developed in Brazil, VW`s 11-ton e-Delivery already includes technological improvements, thanks to the experience gained during a year of testing and more than 15,000 km traveled by the 14-ton model as it delivered beverages in São Paulo. Amongst the benefits achieved, the truck reused more than 40% of the energy it consumed thanks to the vehicles regenerative braking system.
Improvements to systems such as the battery pack cooling and heating system increased durability and the vehicle`s load capacity. Located to the rear of the vehicle, the power train delivers up to 260 kW and a maximum torque of 2,150 Nm, even at low motor speeds, avoiding the use of a separate transmission system thanks to the high torque levels that are delivered on demand to the drive shaft. Hill starts on 30% slopes are achieved without any difficulty.
The lithium ion battery pack at the center of the vehicle supports a range of c. 200 km, varying depending on the client`s specific vehicle configuration. These numbers do not take into account the extended range allowed by the use of energy recovered by the three-stage regenerative braking system to recharge the batteries.
To minimize operating costs, the vehicle is equipped with an intelligent control system which can program charging for hours when loads on the electrical distribution network are low and, as a result, tariffs are lower. As with the entire VWCO line, every aspect of the vehicle`s configuration can be tailored to provide the best transport solution for the client.
Auxiliary systems such as air compressors, air conditioning, power steering and water pumps are driven by independently-controlled electric motors, optimizing energy use. These components are located to the front of the vehicle along with the cabin, which has the most modern design in the world`s light truck market. Allied with these specific solutions is the effort to maximize the use of components from the conventionally-powered Delivery line, ensuring economies of scale and reducing costs.
In practice, the expertise of VWCO`s Brazilian engineers translates into a rugged, comfortable and safe vehicle which is supporting the transformation of the transport industry and the concept of efficient cities.

Delivery 11.180 4x4
VWCO takes the lead once again with the Delivery family and is ready for any and all applications. The big news of this Fenatran for off-road operation is the best selling light truck in Brazil with special traction: the Delivery 11.180 4x4. Driving strength on any terrain and ability to withstand extreme climbs are differentials of the only vehicle in its class with this configuration for the carriage of goods or the provision of specific services.
Its attack and exit angles are higher than 30 °, which represents a 52% gain over the 4x2 version. First VW model with front drive axle developed exclusively for the brand, in partnership with Dana, 4x4 traction is achieved through the use of a dual speed Marmon Herrington transfer box, which gives the vehicle optimum uphill performance.
Available with a 4,000 mm wheelbase, the ability to meet any challenge can be seen on a 5,600 mm long higher load platform, and also takes shape with the use of reinforced front and rear suspension and rear axle with locking system on the differential, for more efficiency on rough terrain and low grip.
It is designed to allow the vehicle to be used as a trailer and comes standard with specific mixed-use tires (235/75 R17.5) for all-wheel drive operations. Delivery 4x4 still benefits from the same advantages as its 4x2 version. It has the highest total gross weight in its category, with 10.7 tons. Agility in any operation is guaranteed with 175 horsepower and maximum torque of 600 Nm over a wide rev range.
For ease of implementation, it is already ready to install a PTO and features optional headlight, front grille and electric winch in its optional package, as well as a distinctive look with a special finish on the wheels and doors. It also provides that the customer may request the inclusion of a freewheel in the front wheel drive for lower fuel consumption and longer differential life when 4x4 drive is not required.
This Delivery is configured with vinyl seat, designed for off-road applications by offering more robustness to the set, with the same comfort found across the board. Its interior space remains the largest in its class with ergonomic items such as adjustable steering column and pneumatic seat to reduce any driver wear.
Customers from different segments actively participated in the development of Delivery 4x4. Thus, its versatility makes it ideal for any application - in environments such as farms and especially in the electricity sector and as a support car for mining, construction and agribusiness.

Delivery V-Tronic
Volkswagen Trucks and Buses continues to evolve its line of light vehicles. This time, the solution can generate an increase in operating profit of about 10%. This is the result that can be achieved with the new version of Delivery V-Tronic available for the best-selling VW Delivery 9.170 and 11.180 models in its category. The differential is made with superior levels of comfort, safety and economy, besides representing the largest total gross weight of its segments.
The technology was developed especially by Volkswagen Truck and Bus Engineering in a thorough work of integration between engine and transmission. The EAO-6106 is synchronized with six forward gears - the last fuel economy overdrive for intercity deliveries. It incorporates a number of intelligent solutions and controls to enhance the driving experience of these trucks while making it easier for the fleet manager to work and for safer traffic in general.
With automated gear shifting, driver comfort is significantly increased, with better ergonomics, less physical wear in traffic and easier maneuverability. Another advantage is that activating the V-Tronic box functions by means of a toggle switch extends the cabin space, which is already the largest in its class, to facilitate interior movement.
On another front, security stands out. Automatic gear shifting allows hands to stay 100% of the time on the steering wheel, and the driver focuses his attention on the outside environment to anticipate any hazardous situation and react more quickly to any unforeseen events, and enables manual gear shifting when necessary. Among its technologies, it includes EasyStart to assist in ramp starting.
Added to all these operating gains are the savings: both by extending the life of the clutch assembly, protecting the engine and servicing, and avoiding any kind of operational errors. Its configuration also provides extra protection of the components. Coupled with this, the intelligence of the V-Tronic transmission programs the powertrain so that it is always in the best rev range favoring the lowest fuel consumption.

Delivery 4.160
Delivery 4,160 is the new member of the family in Brazil and comes with a number of differentials to replace its predecessor Delivery 4.150. The evolution is part of Volkswagen's strategy of always being aware of opportunities for greater operational gain for the customer. The result is in the new configuration: touch 18% higher and 6% more power than its peers. In addition, the new configuration increases the approved payload by about 350 kilos.
It is also the only one in the four-tonne segment equipped with an SCR system to comply with emissions legislation, in a calibration that optimizes fuel consumption for economy and even gives reduced levels of fueling with Arla 32 in urban applications.
For this type of operation, your new powertrain is ideal for ensuring the necessary agility in the starts and starts. Its Delivery 6.160-inspired Cummins ISF engine is configured to deliver 156 horsepower with the highest torque in its class, 430 Nm, available over a wide rev range from 1,500 to 2,400 rpm. The variable geometry turbine is another differential for maximizing performance and improving fuel consumption.
The new model also has a higher total gross weight: 4.2 tonnes. This positively reflects the payload capacity, which is 350 pounds higher when comparing operations with similar implements. It adds to its differentials the configuration of the vehicle. The Delivery 4.160 has advanced cab with simpler maintenance, making the tilting system easily possible. Moreover, it brings in its design all the already recognized attributes of the Delivery family: more modern design, greater interior space, comfort, robustness and safety.
