Volkswagen provides details on the trim levels of the new generation Polo bestseller. For the Russian market, the model will be offered in four versions: Origin, Respect, Status, and Exclusive.
The Polo will come with several engines to choose from: EA211 series 1.6L with 90 hp, or 110 hp, and 1.4L TSI with 125 hp. Power units with a capacity of 90hp and 110hp manufactured at a plant in Kaluga and mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox. The 110-horsepower engine can also be equipped with a 6-speed automatic transmission, while the 125-horsepower engine is paired with a 7-speed DSG.
Exterior
New Polo became the first model in Russia with a new Volkswagen logo. The design of the car has changed completely: the body lines are more swift and elegant.
The exterior of the front of the new Polo features an upgraded grille, a new front bumper, and a rear diffuser. The model name at the rear of the car is now located directly below the logo. Now Polo is presented in a new liftback body, which expands the possibilities of loading and transporting bulky goods.
Polo has grown significantly: if the dimensions of the previous generation were 4390x1699x1467 cm, now it is 4483x1706x1484 cm. In addition, the space for rear passengers has increased, and the trunk volume has increased by 90 liters - from the previous 460 to 550 liters.
In the top-end Exclusive package, the exterior design is complemented by a chrome strip on the radiator grille, as well as chrome inserts for the rear diffuser and chrome trim on the side windows.
The optics of the new Polo have also completely changed. Halogen headlights are a thing of the past. Already in the starting configuration, Polo is equipped with head LED headlights of reflex or spotlight type, depending on the version. The fog lamp function is now integrated into the common unit. The design of the rear LED lights is also completely updated, now they consist of two sections, and the second, located on the trunk lid, is also active.
The exterior design is complemented by 5 new disc models. The Origin and Respect versions offer steel wheels with decorative caps and starting with the Status version, 15 'alloy wheels. 16-inch wheels are available as an option.
Interior
The driver’s workplace has also completely changed. Keeping excellent ergonomics, Polo offers new solutions in the cabin: all Polo is now equipped with a multimedia system with App-Connect support and a touch screen with a diagonal of 6.5 or 8.25 inches.
The interior of the new Polo has new decorative panels for interior decoration. Each of the complete sets is distinguished by its unique version of decorative inserts in the decoration of the front panel, doors, and center console. In each version, Polo received a new seat trim design.
A new multi-function steering wheel is installed in series on the new Polo, which, starting with the Status package, is trimmed in leather and has a heating function.
The final element in the Polo interior was the atmospheric illumination of the legroom in the front, starting with the Exclusive package.
Functional equipment
Volkswagen Polo in the new version is complemented by an expanded set of functional equipment.
As a piece of infotainment equipment, Origin, Respect, and Status are offered a multimedia system with a 6.5-inch touch screen, 4 speakers, a mobile phone via Bluetooth interface, a USB-C connector and an App-Connect interface that allows you to synchronize your smartphone with the car using Apple CarPlay and AndroidAuto.
The Exclusive package includes the Composition multimedia system with an 8.25-inch screen, 6 speakers, and an App-Connect interface.
The new Polo has more digital surfaces. As a base for the Exclusive version, a digital reconfigurable 10.25-inch Active Info Display dashboard is available.
The new Polo offers a range of options for cold climates, in particular: heated front seats, side mirrors and windshield washer nozzles (standard version Respect), heated steering wheel (Status version), heated windshield (standard version Exclusive, option for other versions), heated rear seats (option, from the Status version).
By tradition, the new Polo is equipped with a package for bad roads, and its ground clearance is 170 mm, which is 7 mm more than its predecessor.
In addition, the new Polo offers a KESSY keyless entry and start system. Starting with the Status version, the new Polo offers cruise control as standard.
Starting with the Exclusive version, parking sensors front and rear, light and rain sensors (available as an option for other versions), a rear-view camera integrated under the Volkswagen logo (optional for Status and Exclusive versions), climate Climatronic control (from the Status version).
In addition, as an option, the client can supplement his Polo with a rear wiper, rear USB port, and other equipment.
Security
The car received modern security systems. Each version is equipped with an ESP, Isofix mount for installation in the back of child seats. The novelty is equipped with frontal airbags with an optional shutdown function for the passenger, as well as (optional) side curtain airbags in the front and front side airbags. In addition, an electronic immobilizer and anti-theft system are available for Polo. All Polo versions are also equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system.
