On June 3, in Moscow, in the "Academy" hall, the Russian premiere of Taos, the new SUV of the Volkswagen brand, took place. The new crossover was presented as a car for fans of a bright personalities.
Thomas Milz, head of the Volkswagen brand in Russia, said: “Taos was created for people who value a bright individuality. It combines modern trends with the traditional strengths of the Volkswagen brand. From the new infotainment system to exemplary ergonomics, every element of the Taos is designed to fit the wearer's personality. Taos production started on May 27 at the Volkswagen Group Rus plant in Nizhny Novgorod, and this model will arrive in the showrooms of all our authorized dealers this summer. We are confident that Taos will continue the Russian success of the Tiguan in a new segment. ”
In the lineup Volkswagen Taos is positioned as a more compact SUV than the Tiguan. Its length is 4417 mm, width - 1841 mm, height - 1602 mm.
Taos' design is fast-paced and dynamic. The distinctive front end and powerful bonnet are eye-catching, while the LED daytime running light pattern and the light strip on the sides of the logo add a touch of technology.
The crossover will be offered with two engine options: naturally aspirated 110 hp. in combination with a 5-speed automatic transmission or 6-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive, as well as a turbocharged 150-horsepower engine paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and front-wheel drive or a 7-speed automatic gearbox and 4Motion all-wheel drive.
The Taos model is the first in the Russian Volkswagen lineup to receive a fundamentally new VW Play multimedia system based on Android, with a 10-inch display. Using this system, the user will be able to connect to Wi-Fi hotspots (including a smartphone), connect Apple CarPlay or Android Auto, control the settings of some car functions (for example, climate control, parking sensors, rear view camera, heated windshield) via touchscreen switches. The multimedia system also provides the ability to play audio data (including mobile communication) through the car speakers using USB and Bluetooth ™. In the new multimedia system, Russian users will have the opportunity to use the built-in VW Play Apps, which will include, among other things, Yandex services: Yandex.Navigator with built-in Yandex.Music, Yandex.Fueling and voice assistant Alice. Updates and additions are planned in the app store.
Configurations
In the Russian market, the model will be presented in three versions: Respect, Status, and Exclusive. In addition, a limited edition JOY! - a special version of Taos based on the Status version.
Respect
The Respect version is equipped with 16-inch steel wheels, LED reflector headlights, and black roof rails. The Taos comes with cloth seats, front seats with mechanical lumbar support and heating, electrically adjustable and heated side mirrors, 2 USB-C ports, and manual air conditioning. Functional equipment includes cruise control with speed limiter, light sensor, multimedia system with 6.5 ”display, 4 speakers, Bluetooth and App-Connect, 8” digital instrument cluster, and engine start button. The car is also equipped with 6 airbags and ISOFIX mountings.
For Volkswagen Taos, 2 optional packages are available in the Respect package: the Winter package, which includes dual-zone climate control, electric heated windshield, rain sensor, electrically folding side mirrors, and the Urban package, which includes front and rear sensors parking, rear view camera and 2 USB ports for rear passengers.
In addition, 16-inch Chester alloy wheels, 17-inch Mayfield alloy wheels or 18-inch Montego Bay alloy wheels (for 4Motion only), as well as fabric floor mats, alarm, front and rear parking sensors and dual-zone climate control.
Status
Available for this trim are 16-inch Chester alloy wheels, cloth-upholstered comfort seats, 12-way power driver's seat (including lumbar support), rain sensor and auto-dimming rearview mirror. The Volkswagen Taos in the Status version is equipped with front and rear parking sensors, dual-zone climate control, VW Play multimedia system with a 10-inch display and 6 speakers, as well as 2 USB ports for rear passengers.
For Taos in this version, several packages are optionally available: Winter package (includes electric heated windshield, electrically folding side mirrors and heated rear seats), Technics package (includes keyless entry, alarm, electric trunk drive), Urban "(includes a rearview camera, Pak Assist parking assistant, Side Assist blind spot monitoring system), Style design package (includes 17-inch Mayfield alloy wheels, tinted rear windows, tail lights of a special design, ambient interior lighting), the IQ.Light package (includes adaptive projection-type LED headlights and a luminous strip on the grille) and the Safety package (includes Front Assist automatic braking, Lane Assist, monitoring system "blind" zones Side Assist, rear side airbags).

Exclusive
Volkswagen Taos Exclusive is equipped with 17-inch Mayfield alloy wheels, silver roof rails, and additional chrome elements on the bumpers. For this version, adaptive projection-type LED headlights with a luminous strip on the grille, tinted rear windows, electrically folding rear-view mirrors and an electric heated windshield are available. The interior is complemented by seats with a combination of upholstery, rear armrest, ambient lighting and additional chrome interior elements. Features include a reversing camera, a 10-inch configurable digital instrument cluster, heated rear seats, and an automatic high-to-low beam system.
For Volkswagen Taos in the Exclusive version, the packages "Technics" (includes keyless entry, alarm and electric boot drive) and "Security" (includes automatic braking system Front Assist, adaptive cruise control Stop & Go with distance assistant in a traffic jam, system Lane Assist Lane Keeping, Side Assist Blind Spot Monitoring and Rear Side Airbags). The vehicle can be fitted with 17 "Kulmbach alloy wheels, 18" Montego Bay alloy wheels (4Motion only), Park Assist, a parking heater (1.4 TSI engine only), and fabric floor mats.
JOY!
A special version of JOY! Based on the Status trim and complemented by 17-inch Dublin alloy wheels, black mirror caps and tinted rear windows. The interior of Taos in this version is distinguished by orange decorative elements on the dashboard and seats and atmospheric lighting. The model is also equipped with an alarm, keyless entry, a rear-view camera, an electric heated windshield and electrically folding rear-view mirrors.
For Volkswagen Taos performed by JOY! the "Innovations" package is optionally available, which includes the Front Assist automatic braking system (only for the 1.4 TSI engine), the adaptive cruise control Stop & Go with the distance assistant in traffic jam (only for the 1.4 TSI engine), the adaptive LED headlights of the projection type with a luminous strip on the grille and a 10-inch configurable digital instrument cluster. For the JOY! Optional extras include fabric floor mats, electric boot, Park Assist, parking heater (1.4 TSI engine only) and heated rear seats.
