São Bernardo do Campo, October 6, 2025 – Volkswagen do Brasil celebrates the milestone of 300,000 Nivus produced in Brazil. Both versions of the model, the New Nivus and the sporty Nivus GTS, are manufactured at the Anchieta plant in São Bernardo do Campo, São Paulo. The New Nivus and Nivus GTS help Volkswagen maintain its leadership in SUV sales in Brazil, the country's main segment. Also part of the SUVW Family are the New T-Cross, Tera, Taos, Tiguan, and ID.4. The seven SUVs have already registered 133,576 units this year (Jan-Sep).

Launched in 2020, the Nivus revolutionized the market, being the first Volkswagen model entirely developed in South America and also produced in Europe, at the Pamplona plant (Spain), under the name Taigo.

The Nivus was also a milestone in the Brazilian automotive industry for its pioneering design, ushering in the coupe trend in Brazil. Another innovation is that it was the first Volkswagen do Brasil model developed entirely using virtual prototypes in its initial stages, revolutionizing the product development process with cutting-edge technology; physical prototypes were also used in the model's final testing.

The New Nivus and Nivus GTS are among the seven models already launched in Brazil as part of Volkswagen's current offensive to produce 21 new vehicles for the South American region by 2028, with investments of R$20 billion. The Nivus GTS, launched in 2025, marked the revival of Volkswagen's sporty style. VW subsequently launched the Golf GTI and the New Jetta GLI, completing its Legends trio.

The New Nivus, launched in 2024, ushered in a new era of connectivity for Volkswagen do Brasil with the new 10.1-inch VW Play Connect and the new Meu VW 2.0 app.

"The Volkswagen Nivus symbolizes the high capacity for innovation and creativity of our teams, combined with Volkswagen do Brasil's technology. The first model entirely developed in our region and also produced in Europe under the Taigo name, the Nivus reveals the strength of our Volkswagen Engineering, Design, and Production. Producing 300,000 units in such a short time demonstrates the relevance of the Nivus, which won over Brazilians by debuting the coupe trend, in addition to contributing to Volkswagen's consolidated leadership in the SUV segment, the most important in the Brazilian market. And the Nivus GTS, launched this year, is a new milestone, beginning the revival of the sportiness that is in VW's DNA, which was subsequently followed by the Legends trio, complete with the Golf GTI and New Jetta GLI models," says Ciro Possobom, president and CEO of Volkswagen do Brasil.

"We at the Anchieta plant are proud to be the home of the Nivus, which has become a benchmark in innovation, connectivity, and design. Every Nivus that leaves our assembly line carries the 65-year tradition of the São Bernardo do Campo plant and, at the same time, the innovation of Volkswagen. Reaching the 300,000-unit milestone is proof of the excellence our team can achieve," says Leandro Oliveira, Plant Manager at the Anchieta plant.

VW is the largest car manufacturer in Brazil: +26 million units

With 26 million units produced, a milestone reached in August 2025, Volkswagen do Brasil is the largest automobile manufacturer in the country's history. Operating in Brazil for 72 years, the brand accounts for 26% of the 100 million units manufactured by the sector, leading the way in production volume, generating jobs, and contributing to economic development. More than 200,000 employees have helped build Volkswagen do Brasil's success story over these more than seven decades.

The 26 million unit milestone includes production at Volkswagen do Brasil's three car factories: Anchieta (in São Bernardo do Campo, SP, opened in 1959, the first Volkswagen factory outside Germany), Taubaté (SP, opened in 1976) and São José dos Pinhais (PR, opened in 1999), with engines manufactured at the São Carlos unit (SP, opened in 1996).

In 2025, Volkswagen also reached the milestone of producing 1 million Polo units in Brazil. This is precisely the year the Polo celebrates its 50th anniversary worldwide, becoming an icon of the automotive industry, with over 20 million units registered worldwide. In Brazil, the Polo remains the country's best-selling passenger car and the leader among hatchbacks, with 93,711 units registered this year (Jan-Sep).

Investments of R$20 billion and 21 launches in the region

Volkswagen is investing R$20 billion in South America by 2028, with a robust offensive of 21 launches in the region by that date. A highlight is the imminent arrival of locally developed hybrids, ushering in a new era of hybridization for the brand in the region. Of this total, seven models have already been launched in Brazil: the New T-Cross, New Amarok, New Nivus, Nivus GTS, Tera, Golf GTI, and New Jetta GLI.

Of the total investment, R$16 billion will be allocated to Brazil and will include innovative projects focused on decarbonization for the four plants. Anchieta, in São Bernardo do Campo (SP), will have two new vehicles. The São José dos Pinhais (PR) plant will have a new pickup truck. The Taubaté (SP) plant is already producing the Tera SUV, and the São Carlos (SP) engine plant will have a new, even more innovative and efficient engine for hybrid vehicles.

In addition to these products, the offensive includes the arrival of a new platform (MQB Hybrid project) that is innovative, technological, flexible, and sustainable. The new electronic architecture allows for greater connectivity and offers even greater safety through ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance System) technology, as well as greater comfort and increased interior space. Developed with the participation of Volkswagen do Brasil Engineering specifically for the South American region, using the most advanced virtual simulation technology, the new platform involved team training and highly technological production.
