December, 2025

Recently, the application information for the SAIC Volkswagen Passat ePro was officially released in the latest batch of "Announcement of Road Motor Vehicle Manufacturers and Products" issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, which has aroused the expectations of the industry and users.

With its German-engineered elegance, spacious cabin, and luxurious technology, the Passat family has won the favor of nearly 4 million users, making it a true star product in the mid-size sedan market. The newly unveiled Passat ePro, as a significant new member of the Passat family, inherits German craftsmanship, features a highly efficient hybrid system, and boasts an elegant aesthetic design, ushering in a new era of driving experience in the electric vehicle market.

With triple value enhancements, the ePro launches a new generation of hybrid product lines.

The naming of "ePro" signifies a complete upgrade of SAIC Volkswagen's Pro family of products, representing a new generation of hybrid product series. The "e" has three meanings: electric brings flexible energy forms and a longer driving range, achieving an electric driving experience; evolution indicates that the series adopts the latest intelligent hybrid system, achieving comprehensive evolution; and elegant features a brand-new front face design, integrating an illuminated logo and a continuous light wing, perfectly interpreting the technological sense and style of the electric era, shaping an elegant style.

A refreshed design, modern aesthetics reimagining German classics.

In terms of design, the Passat ePro adopts the design philosophy of "simplicity over complexity and reshaping classics with modern aesthetics". While adhering to the classic styling language, it pursues a new realm from the inside out, incorporating more elegant and modern aesthetic elements to show a design concept with great style, purity and texture.

The newly designed, technologically advanced LED headlights, a continuous LED light strip, and an illuminated logo create a highly recognizable new electrified digital front face, showcasing the individuality and dynamism of future electric vehicle design language. On the side, the 5,017mm length and 2,871mm wheelbase create a luxurious, long-wheelbase proportion. The dynamic, swooping stance blends perfectly with the streamlined roofline and the powerful, continuous waistline, complemented by dynamic petal-shaped wheels, exuding an ultimate sense of grandeur and elegance. The rear features a horizontal design, with wing-shaped LED taillights echoing the red LED illuminated logo, and a concealed exhaust rear bumper. The overall design is simple yet sophisticated, combining a sense of technology and sportiness.

The interior is designed to provide a superior driving experience, featuring a horizontally integrated design with layered wrapping. This not only widens the visual space but also gives the B-segment car the spaciousness of a C-segment car, creating a simple and warm new electric cabin atmosphere that is both high-quality and practical.

Powered by a new platform, enabling diverse mobility solutions.

In terms of power, the Passat ePro is equipped with SAIC Volkswagen's new generation PHEV platform, which features dual power and dual energy forms. It can take the best of both worlds under various operating conditions and has three core features: long range, low fuel consumption, and sufficient power, bringing an economical, worry-free, and anxiety-free smooth electric driving experience.

The new vehicle is equipped with the EA211 1.5T EVO II high-efficiency hybrid engine, which is known for its high output, low loss, and ultra-durability, easily handling various complex road conditions and long-distance driving needs. In addition, the new vehicle is also equipped with a new generation 22kWh high-performance battery, giving the CLTC a pure electric range of over 150km and a combined range exceeding 1300km, fully meeting diverse driving needs such as daily commuting and long-distance travel.

Building on the reputation of nearly 4 million Passat users, the Passat ePro, a sincere offering that can be both gasoline and electric, will serve as a "new flagship hybrid in the B-segment." With its new design language and advanced powertrain technology, it aims to help the Passat family continue to lead the mid-to-high-end sedan market and usher in a new era of electric mobility for its users. The new car is expected to launch in 2026, and more highlights will be revealed gradually. Stay tuned.
