[April 8, 2026, Beijing] Volkswagen's journey in China began with trust—a bond built over four decades and rooted in the trust of more than 47 million customers. This trust is both a responsibility and a driving force. Today, Volkswagen is responding to this expectation with resolute action. At its brand night event on April 8, Volkswagen articulated its leap from "catching up" to "leading"—not only keeping pace with the rapidly changing market but also demonstrating a clear ambition to lead the industry. Adhering to its "In China, For China" strategy, Volkswagen is translating its long-term vision into concrete actions: launching a full-scale offensive in new energy vehicles, creating a clearly differentiated product matrix for its joint ventures, and implementing a technology roadmap centered on real user value. These efforts collectively signify that Volkswagen is moving from strategic planning to large-scale, rapid delivery.

Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, said: “Volkswagen operates in 150 markets across all continents, winning the trust of millions of customers. Today, we are more focused than ever on regional strategies to solidify our global foundation. That’s why we are launching one of the largest product offensives in the brand’s history. In China—our largest single market and a strategic hub that sets the trend for the global automotive industry—we will launch more than 30 new energy vehicles by 2029.”

Dr. Robert Cisek, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars China, added: “In China, over 47 million customers place their hopes and trust in us: we have always been proactive in leading the innovation of mobility and are constantly evolving with changing customer needs. When German craftsmanship meets local innovation, collaboration translates into a competitive advantage. With a firm commitment to electrification, flexible powertrain configurations, and a diversified product portfolio, Volkswagen perfectly blends global trust with the scale advantages of deep localization.”

Volkswagen is driving its "In China, For China" strategy with the largest product offensive in the brand's history. In 2026, Volkswagen will launch 13 new energy vehicles, covering pure electric, plug-in hybrid, and range-extended powertrains—a number that will increase to over 30 by 2029. This product offensive is built on three pillars: flexible powertrain solutions, a clear differentiated strategy for joint ventures, and Volkswagen's human-centric technology.

By 2027, new energy vehicles, encompassing various powertrain types, will account for more than half of Volkswagen's product portfolio.
Leading this product offensive are three all-new models, each demonstrating Volkswagen's commitment to innovative and accessible electric mobility. At the brand's night event, FAW-Volkswagen's all-new ID. AURA T6 made its debut. Based on Volkswagen's locally developed Electronic and Electrical Architecture (CEA), this model brings enhanced Level 2 assisted driving and continuous OTA upgrades to the compact SUV segment, making intelligent mobility accessible to a wider range of users. This new model will make its first public appearance at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show.

The Volkswagen ID. UNYX 08 is Volkswagen's first full-size all-electric intelligent SUV built on an 800-volt architecture, boasting a range of up to 730 kilometers (CLTC). Its super-fast charging can add 150 kilometers of range in just 5 minutes. Pre-sales for this model began on March 26th, with a pre-sale price ranging from RMB 239,900 to RMB 299,900, and it is scheduled to officially launch on April 16th.

The ID. ERA 9X is Volkswagen's first full-size range-extended SUV, boasting a pure electric range of over 400 kilometers (CLTC) and a total range of over 1,600 kilometers (CLTC). It is powered by Volkswagen's proven EA211 engine. This new range-extended model began pre-sales on March 30th, with a pre-sale price ranging from RMB 329,800 to RMB 379,800, and is scheduled to officially launch on April 25th.

By offering comprehensive electric mobility solutions, Volkswagen ensures that every customer can find a product that suits their individual lifestyle—from long-range all-electric vehicles to efficient plug-in hybrids, and versatile range-extended electric vehicles that offer both pure electric driving confidence and extended-range capability. Driven by this strong offensive in new energy vehicles, Volkswagen plans to increase the proportion of new energy vehicles to more than half of its product portfolio by 2027.
