[April 21, 2026, Beijing] At the Volkswagen Group Night on the eve of the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, the Volkswagen brand welcomed the global debut of the ID. AURA T6, the Volkswagen ID. UNYX 09, and the Jetta X concept car, further accelerating the brand's largest new energy vehicle offensive to date. This is not only reflected in the expansion of the product lineup, but also in a more precise targeting of each product's target user group—from intelligent family travel to bold self-expression for young users, and to more affordable entry-level electric mobility. With a deep understanding of core customer needs, Volkswagen has selected and integrated the most suitable solutions for each model and market segment.
Thomas Schäfer, CEO of Volkswagen Passenger Cars, stated: “China continues to lead the transformation of the automotive industry, and Volkswagen is fulfilling its commitment to ‘innovation for the people.’ The JETTA brand is entering the intelligent entry-level new energy vehicle market, the ID. AURA T6 is accelerating the implementation of the new electronic and electrical architecture (CEA), and the ID. UNYX 09 is expanding our electrification portfolio in the mid-to-high-end sedan market.”

With the debut of the ID. AURA T6, ID. UNYX 09, and the JETTA X concept car, Volkswagen’s new energy vehicle offensive is accelerating with even stronger momentum. The ever-expanding product lineup brings richer layers, more precise positioning, and broader coverage, accurately aligning with the diverse lifestyles, car usage expectations, and travel scenarios of Chinese consumers. Driven by this strong offensive in new energy vehicles, the Volkswagen brand expects new energy vehicles to account for more than half of its product portfolio by 2027.
The ID. AURA T6 , with its confident and intelligent design, enhances the daily family travel experience, fulfilling Volkswagen's core commitment to "innovation for the people." As the first model in the ID. AURA series, the ID. AURA T6 is a pure electric mid-size SUV, precisely targeting the huge potential of the Chinese market segment. This characteristic is also precisely reflected in the design of the new model. Following Volkswagen's new Chinese design DNA, it adopts natural and upright lines, a practical body shape, and a spacious family-oriented interior.
In terms of intelligent features, the ID. AURA T6 marks another milestone for Volkswagen in China. It will be the first model to feature an enhanced Level 2 advanced driver assistance system based on LiDAR, and also the first SUV equipped with CEA (Continuous Enhancement Assessment). The CEA architecture, jointly developed by Volkswagen (China) Technology Co., Ltd., CARIAD China, and XPENG Motors, was completed in just 18 months. It shortened the vehicle development cycle by 30%, reduced complexity by decreasing the number of control units by 30%, and enabled faster, end-to-end integration of the latest technological innovations. The CEA is vividly demonstrated in the ID. AURA T6, allowing customers to truly experience its advantages in real-world use: faster response, smarter interaction, and continuously evolving technology. The ID. AURA T6 is scheduled to make its public debut at the 2026 Beijing Auto Show on April 24th.
The ID. UNYX 09 expands Volkswagen's progressive and avant-garde electric product line to a new user group. The ID. UNYX category represents avant-garde design, cutting-edge intelligence, and benchmark-setting driving dynamics. The near-production ID. UNYX 09 is a 5-meter-long sedan designed specifically for the highly attractive B-segment market, where identity is paramount. The ID. UNYX 09
is the second model jointly developed by Volkswagen and XPENG Motors, with a development cycle of only 24 months. It is equipped with cutting-edge intelligent technology, including an enhanced L2-level advanced driver assistance system with NOA navigation-assisted driving function, an intelligent AI assistant, and a high-performance computing platform capable of smoothly handling various driving tasks, bringing a highly responsive and intuitive driving experience. Most importantly, it adheres to Volkswagen's uncompromising quality standards, integrating Volkswagen's global engineering strength and profound technological foundation, as well as localized focus and China speed. This model is planned to launch in the second half of this year.
The JETTA brand is pioneering affordable entry-level electric mobility. As a sub-brand of Volkswagen, JETTA is embarking on an electrification transformation, making intelligent electric mobility accessible to more people. JETTA's new energy vehicles will integrate intelligent and practical solutions with Volkswagen's unparalleled quality genes, providing a perfect balance of performance, reliability, and value for China's continuously growing entry-level new energy vehicle market. The JETTA X concept car
, which made its global debut at the Group Night, showcases JETTA's new "Modern Robust" design language. Its exterior features sharp, clean lines, a unique lighting design, an upright stance, and short front and rear overhangs, reinterpreting the Jetta's trusted reliability and durability in a more modern and dynamic way. The Jetta brand will launch four new energy vehicles by 2028, with the first model expected to launch as early as the second half of 2026. Volkswagen will launch more new models this year to ensure that every customer can find a vehicle that meets their needs. The excitement continues—at the 2026 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition, the Volkswagen brand will bring several exciting new products, showcasing the latest developments in its product and technology strategy. Stay tuned for the Volkswagen brand press conference on April 24th.
