UNYX showed that it is entering “A New Dawn” in 2025 with a coordinated push across products, networks, and experiences. The ID. UNYX electrified the stage with the world premiere of its ID. EVO concept – a fully-connected electric full-size SUV designed to spearhead the intelligent connected vehicles (ICVs). At the same time, Volkswagen's first smart electric coupe SUV, the ID. UNYX MY25 has been officially renamed ID. UNYX 06, and features nearly 50 hardware and software upgrades that deliver enhanced product value for a more competitive customer offering.

Driven by Evolution, Defining the Next-generation ICVs Standard

EVO stands for “Evolution”, symbolizing progress and transformation. Bearing this name, the ID. EVO concept is making its debut at this year’s Auto Shanghai. As ID. UNYX’s first fully-connected electric full-size SUV, it showcases the category’s vision for the era of smart e-mobility — one defined by immersive smart cockpit experiences and safety-first advanced driver assistance technologies. A production model based on the ID. EVO concept is scheduled to begin mass production in 2026 at Volkswagen Anhui.

Striking at first glance, the ID. EVO concept adopts a progressive, bold and expressive exterior design language. The short front overhangs and long rear overhangs create a memorable and unique body proportion. The sleek look — with sculptured surfaces, reduced lines, and subtly tapered roofline — conveys a premium sporty feel and brings enhanced aerodynamics. The golden centerline accent connects the exterior to the interior for a luxurious touch in the shifting interplay of light and shadow. Most striking of all is the smart lighting system — with 100+ controlled 3D triangular LEDs in the front daytime running lights, also reflected in the rear lights — that creates highly sophisticated interactive animations, delivering intelligent light-based communication. Another special highlight is the Wolfsburg Wolf logo integrated into the top brake lights that offers a unique and playful highlight, symbolizing its Volkswagen DNA.

The cockpit is a spacious “second living room”. The floating armrest elegantly rises like a space capsule control console, while the hidden air vents contribute to the cabin’s minimalist purity. Equipped with “Queen” seats featuring advanced massage functions, paired with flowing ambient lighting and an optional in-car fridge, the ID. EVO concept offers a truly relaxing and enjoyable journey for the whole family.

In terms of smart interaction, the ID. EVO concept is equipped with the new OS and UNYX HMI, offering an immersive digital experience with the new large infotainment screen that delivers cinematic visuals. BYOD (x2), which can be used as a control panel for additional infotainment in the rear row, allows iPads to instantly transform into personal entertainment screens, meeting the personalized needs of every passenger. Powered by a large language model (LLM), the customizable humanoid 3D avatar provides users with an immersive interactive experience. Its powerful AI-supported capabilities turn the vehicle into an all-purpose travel companion.

ID. UNYX is also committed to making safety-first advanced driver assistance technologies accessible to more users. The ID. EVO concept is equipped with an industry-leading, pure vision-based, HD-map-free L2++ advanced driver assistance system that integrates highways, cities, and parking scenarios into one – delivering seamless “parking-to-parking” advanced driver assistance capabilities. Powered by advanced AI algorithms, it enables safer and more comfortable assisted driving, effortlessly handling various complex urban road conditions.

What’s more, the ID. EVO concept sets new standards in electrification technology and safety. It delivers up to 700 km e-range (CLTC) with 800V super charging technology. Drivers will benefit from the large fast-charging network offered by Volkswagen Group and its partners across China – with over 20,000 charging points, covering 420 cities, ensuring power up anywhere, anytime. At the same time, adhering to Volkswagen’s high quality and safety standards, the all-electric platform has been enhanced to ensure the brand’s highest levels of battery protection and body structure safety.


Refreshed ID. UNYX 06 Unveiled with Nearly 50 Upgrades

With nearly 50 hardware and software upgrades, the refreshed 2025 model — now officially named ID. UNYX 06 — delivers significant enhancements in smart features, entertainment, and personalized experiences. Launched in July last year, Volkswagen’s first smart electric coupe SUV, the ID. UNYX has seen steadily rising sales, becoming a new choice among young urban consumers who prioritize lifestyle. Following the first wave of deliveries, the category actively gathered user and market feedback, leading to continuous improvements that directly address user pain points – paving the way for this latest evolution.

The ID. UNYX 06 is the first model to feature Volkswagen’s newly upgraded ID.S 5.4 infotainment system, with four new functions and 31 optimized features – enabling a quicker command response and a comprehensively improved interaction experience. The AI-supported 3D Avatar evolves with new functions like text-to-image generation and a vehicle knowledge base, integrating advanced AI into daily travel. To further enrich in-car entertainment, eight new in-car games, and social networking capabilities are introduced, making the ID. UNYX 06 a big toy for young people – significantly enhancing driving fun. A new “Sunset Blue” color option is introduced, while various themed original matte foils are also available, offering users a more tailored experience. Additionally, the new “Fragrance” feature, with three custom scents, elevates the sensory experience for a more enjoyable journey.

Meanwhile, to make the unique appeal of the ID. UNYX 06 accessible to even more users, a new Pure version has been introduced, equipped with a 53.6kWh LFP battery to offer competitive entry-level models and further expand customer choices. This allows even more people to enjoy the hallmark German driving experience with ease.

Accelerating the Evolution of ID. UNYX for “A New Dawn”

After its “New Born” phase in 2024, ID. UNYX enters “A New Dawn” in 2025 with a coordinated push across products, networks, and experiences.

A Strong Product Portfolio is rapidly taking shape. In addition to the ID. UNYX 06, ID. UNYX will launch three new models in 2026, including SUVs and sedans. These new models will be unveiled later this year and will benefit from Volkswagen's strong industry ecosystem in Hefei.

An expanded sales network is set to further accelerate growth. As of Q1 this year, ID. UNYX’s retail presence already covers 35 cities across China, with a total of 67 stores in operation. ID. UNYX plans to deploy 120 outlets across 70 cities by 2025, prioritizing Tier-3 market accessibility, ensuring a seamless purchasing and service experience.
